How It Works
- Bring in your item and your approved paperwork

What Has to Be Marked
For a Form 1 build from an existing, serialized factory firearm, the ATF requires your name (or a recognized abbreviation), and the city and State where you made the firearm. Caliber and model are only required if not already marked on the gun. You do not need a new serial number — the factory serial carries over and goes in Block 4(g) of your Form 1.
Building from raw materials or an unserialized receiver is different. You’ll need a full marking set, including an assigned serial number, at the same depth and size requirements below.

A Note on Compliance
We follow the marking requirements set out by the ATF for NFA items. We mark everything at least 1/16″ tall and .003″ deep. Common Engraving Locations
We can engrave wherever you want on your item, but here’s where most customers ask for their NFA markings:
- AR-15: Normally engraved inside the magwell, unless the lower is polymer. We can place it anywhere you’d like, but this is the most common spot.
- MP5 or variants: Normally engraved inside the long channel on the side of the receiver.

Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in during business hours and we’ll take care of it on the spot.
Can I ship my item instead of coming in?
Yes. Ship your upper or receiver directly with a contents list, your contact information, and a prepaid return label. UPS or FedEx only, no USPS.
How deep does the marking have to be?
A minimum of .003 inch, measured from the flat surface of the metal. Serial numbers must be at least 1/16 inch in print size.
