Cerakote coating is the most popular ceramic coating available for firearms in the U.S. today. Cerakote offers a huge variety of different colors for its coating, and it efficiently coats and protects a wide variety of metals, polymers, and other materials.
Cerakote is available to the general public but is not designed by the company to be a do it yourself coating process. Like most gunsmithing and gun treatment related work, however, the quality of the application is typically directly related to the ability, skill, and experience of the person doing the coating work.
Cerakote provides one-on-one training through NIC Industries that leads to becoming a Certified Cerakote Applicator. This certification provides assurance to the customer that the applicator has received intensive training directly from Cerakote’s corporate instructors and shows that the Cerakote brand has trust in the applicator. Cerakote’s certification program is completed at the company’s state of the art facility in White City, Oregon.
Cerakote’s certification training program includes training in all aspects of Cerakote application, including:
- Correct Preparation by Substrate
- Various Methods of Degreasing
- Proper Racking
- Coating Selection
- Basic to Advanced Spray Gun Techniques
- In-Depth Application Methods
- Curing Procedures Stenciling & Camo Techniques
- Advice on Equipment & Operation
- Problem Solving & Troubleshooting
- Project/Job Costing
- Marketing Strategies
